Ikon Gallery and MOMA

Birmingham and Oxford, 1984

After the initial performances at London Musicians' Collective and Brixton festival, the Ikon Gallery (Birmingham) invited Bow Gamelan for a short residency as a commission to extend and expand their ensemble. Modern Art Oxford (formerly known as Museum of Modern Art, Oxford (MOMA)) consequently invited them. In this large white space, one of the explorations that they concentrated on was ways of projecting large shadows on the wall in relation to the sound of various instruments.
