Z’EV | Heart Beat Ear Drum

Cafe OTO, Dalston, London, 8 Feb 2020

Soon after the death of Z'EV, an artist composer/percussionist, visual artist, poet and theorist, with whom Richard Wilson and Anne Bean had collaborated, both in the context of Bow Gamelan Ensemble and beyond, they took part in organising and performing in Z’EV: THERE YOU GO. AN EVENING SUMMONING RHYTHMAJIK at South London Gallery in July 2018.

In 2020, coincidentally on the date of Z'EV's birth February 8th and of Storm Ciara, Cold Spring organised an evening at Cafe OTO to show:
"Heart Beat Ear Drum", a feature length documentary by Ellen Zweig released on Cold Spring label about the late artist and musician Z’EV (1951-2017), known for his punk era scrap metal music – an extraordinary range of acoustic phenomena resulting in trance-inducing sounds.

Anne Bean and Richard Wilson worked with the film that Z'EV had made for TAPS, as part of the evening event.
